Kicking, cravings and other nonsense

If the past couple of days are any indication, I’m pretty sure that Nate is going to be a kickboxer, soccer player, or champion kick ball star. Little Man’s movement has increased dramatically over the past week. It has been exciting being able to feel him move around and try to determine his schedule, which at this point is very random. Hopefully within the next week or so Jeremy will be able to feel something.

Now on to the cravings. I’ve read stories about women who crave crazy things like mac & cheese with peanut butter or enormous spoonfuls of butter. I have not really had any weird cravings, but for the past week any time I think about food I find myself needing a chicken pot pie. Weird, I know. I think it stems from a Boston Market commercial I saw last week. The chicken pot pie looked so delicious I just couldn’t get it out of my mind. So right now, as I sit on the couch typing this, my delicious Boston Market chicken pot pie is baking in the oven. I hope it is as satisfying as my crazy pregnant brain thinks it will be.

I just told Jeremy that we need to take an updated picture, because my belly has definitely expanded to twice the normal size. And my stomach is so hard I’m pretty sure I know what it’s like to have a six-pack (except I’m sort of round like a keg). If we can eventually find our scanner I promise pictures of both Nate’s ultrasound and my growing belly. Maybe, if you’re lucky, we’ll post a picture of Jeremy, too. I’d hate for him to feel left out.

UPDATE:  The Boston Market chicken pot pie was the most delicious pot pie that I’ve ever tasted.  It exceed my expectations and craving.  I should have bought more than one.

It’s A…

BOY!!! Jeremy and I were very surprised when the ultrasound tech found little boy parts on our little Whiz.  We were sure the baby was a girl!  But we are very happy to add a little boy to our family.

Nathan Cole Fuksa weighs a little less than 1lb. and all of the  organs and limbs look really good.  He was very active in there and moved around during the entire ultrasound.  He has very long fingers and we have a feeling that he is going to be very tall like his Daddy.  And we can already tell from the ultrasound pictures that he has Mom’s nose and Dad’s mouth.

Unfortunately, Jeremy hasn’t hooked up the scanner yet and he won’t be back into his office until Monday, so check back then for the latest pics of Nathan.  While Jeremy is in San Jose, CA tomorrow night he is going to work on a site re-design specifically for Nate, so be sure the check that out.

While I’m waiting

Jeremy here with another semi-regular update.

I thought I’d recap the past few days while I’m waiting at the house for the phone, cable, Internet, and gas guys to get here and hook up their respective utility.  “But wait,” you say, “how are you posting if the Internet guy hasn’t shown up?”  We’ve got the Kingrey’s and their open wireless connection to thank for that.  Thanks, Kingrey.

Anyway, the move was successful over the weekend.  We had lots of great help from Grandmas and Grandpas Burkhardt and Fuksa as well as Aunt Angela and Uncle Pete.  It was a houseful but it made the tough job go very quickly.  The Fuksas headed back to Oklahoma yesterday morning and Robin and I went back to bed for a well deserved extra morning nap.  We then spent some time getting things in order around here.  Aside from Whiz’s room, there’s not a moving box to be seen upstairs.  My office in the basement is another story.  However, my dad, Pete and I got some studs pulled out and reinforced in order to open the area underneath the stairs into super magnifico storage.  Go team.  Soon, boxes marked “Sentimental Poo” and other nondescript things will find a dark home where they will sit until the next time we move.

Stella is here but the cats are still at the old apartment hanging out.  I’m going to give another attempt at finding a good, loving home for them this week before we bring them over.  If I don’t find a home by Saturday, they’ll be moving over here as well.

Of course, on the baby front, there’s big news…  the sex of the baby will be revealed tomorrow!  I had a close call at work.  I was scheduled to go to San Jose, CA on business tomorrow (I know, rough), but was able to bump it until Thursday so I wouldn’t miss the big unveiling.

That’s about it.  Robin’s laptop just finished getting backed up, so I’m off to fix it.  It sat for a few days and totally drained the battery.  Now it won’t recognize that there’s any battery.  Apparently reinstalling the OS will fix that.  We’ll see.
