It’s about time, right?

Well, as should be pretty obvious by now, I’ve finally gotten around to designing Mr. Nate’s web site.  Today was the last day at work before our week-long Christmas break (one of the perks of working at an employee-owned agency), and things were a little slow.  It took me about 2 hours to do this redesign from start to finish.

Of course, the site is designed using all the exact colors of his room and probably features text that is too small for grandparents to read.  Let me just bask in the glow of how good I think the design looks before you make me change the font to something bigger. :)

Anyway…

So, I’ve got these extra days off, and I plan to get to all the to-dos that Robin outlined in the previous post plus hopefully get the basement close to finished.  I certainly doubt that I’ll have flooring down by January 1, but I sure plan on having all the walls up with a coat of paint on them.

As I write this, grandma and grandpa Fuksa and great-grandma Laporte are about 1.5 hours away from the house.  We’re having our family Christmas get-together this weekend in KC since Robin’s been banned from travel until Nate’s born.

Here’s hoping all 5 of the rest of you who read this site have a Merry Christmas.

Reality Check

Look at the ticker to the right.  Today is says 32 days left.  That’s a month.  Yikes!  In a way I feel ready, mostly because I’m done being pregnant and would like to tie my shoes, breathe normally and bend over again.  However, I feel like we still have a lot to do to get ready for Nathan’s arrival.

Things we have left to do:

  • Wash the newborn and 0-3 month clothes, along with  all of the towels, washcloths, blankets and sheets.  I plan on doing that when I’m off on Christmas Eve.
  • Finish Nathan’s room.  Actually everything that we have left is stuff that only Jeremy can do.  We still need to install the ceiling fan, hang the shelves and put in the closet organizers.  Jeremy has promised me that he will work on that this weekend.
  • Shop at Babies R’ Us for all of the essentials that we need before he gets here.  Ok, I’ll admit that we have practically everything that we need.  There are some additional items that I want, like a swing.  It was a Godsend for my nephew Tyler and I plan on using it a lot.
  • Pack my suitcase for the hospital stay.  Angela and I came up with a list on Sunday of everything I will need, now I just have to get it all together.  For some reason I’m having a hard time getting the motivation to complete this task, maybe because it makes it seem much more real.  But I know it needs to be done, so I plan on tackling that on one of my two upcoming 4 day weekends.
  • Install the car seat base in the X-terra, which I will be driving for a while.  Since they won’t let you leave the hospital without a properly installed car seat this task is pretty important.
  • Pick up the things that I’m borrowing from Angela.  It’s not like I have to go far to do this, but I would like to have everything before Nate arrives.  It just seems like it would be much easier that way.
  • Make some meals that I can freeze, so Jeremy and I won’t have to worry about dinner for a while after we come home from the hospital.

I think that’s about it.  The list doesn’t look so bad now that I’ve written it out.  Hopefully Nathan will not decide to come too early and I can get everything done before he gets here.  If anyone would like to come up for a visit I would be more than happy to let you assist me in completing my list!  :)

Checking In

It has been a while since we’ve posted on this site. The past month has been filled with baby showers, holiday travel and works stuff. Everything is going very well with Nathan and me (and Jeremy, too). I think Nate is starting to run out of room in there because I’ve felt a dramatic increase in movements over the past couple of weeks. He’s almost developed a pattern and [knock on wood] is really good about sleeping when I sleep. We’ve started going to the doctor every 2 weeks; my last appointment was this past Friday and everything looks and sounds great.

Our travels over the past month have taken Jeremy and I all over the midwest. Thanksgiving Day we traveled to Algona, IA for Thanksgiving dinner with the Burkhardt family. This past weekend we flew down to Hennessey, OK to celebrate Thanksgiving/Christmas with the Fuksa family. And both Grandma and Grandpa Burkhardt and Nana and Papa Fuksa will be joining us up here in Kansas City for Christmas (due to my travel restrictions everyone will have to come to us to celebrate this year). Now if I can just get enough motivation to finish putting up the Christmas decorations!

Since our travel is over I will hopefully have more time to post pictures. So check back for pics of my baby showers and Nathan’s room (and maybe, if you’re lucky, a picture of my ginormous belly). Grandma Burkhardt finished the bedding and I looks great. I can’t wait for everyone to see it!
