Christmas with Grandpa and Grandma Burkhardt

Nathan celebrated Christmas with his Grandpa and Grandma from Iowa a couple weekends ago.  He received some great presents and enjoyed playing with his Grandpa and Grandma.

He was more excited about the ribbons and bows than the actual presents.  That changed once all of the presents were opened.

Tyler did a great job of helping everyone open their presents.  He’s such a good helper!  :)

Nate received his first backpack.  It is almost as big as he is!

Grandma made Nathan and Tyler their very own Christmas tree cake.  You should have seen Nathan’s face when we told him that he had his very own cake with his name on it.  You know how he loves cake!

Decorating the Christmas Tree

The weekend after Thanksgiving we put up the Christmas tree while Nathan was taking his morning nap.  When he woke up he helped Daddy put the star on the top.

He was very curious about the big tree at first, but he has been a very good boy and left it alone for the most part.

Going back a few weeks…

to Thanksgiving.  Nathan took his first long road trip to Starkville, Mississippi, to visit Aunt Erin and Uncle Randal.  He did so well in the car on the long trip, despite being in a 4 hour traffic jam from St. Louis to Columbia, MO.  Here are a few highlights from our trip.

This was Nathan’s first time to stay in a hotel.  He was so excited when we got there no one got much sleep.  He loved bouncing and crawling around on the big fluffy bed.

While in Memphis we stopped by a little gift shop close to Graceland and Nathan picked out a Teddy Bear (he sings Elvis’ Teddy Bear when you push his belly).  Nathan loves his bear and it has been a great distraction at the changing table.

As you can see, Nathan really enjoyed his first Thanksgiving dinner, especially Aunt Eb’s sweet potato casserole.  He did really know what to think about the turkey at first, but soon realized that was delicious.

Nate loves playing with his Grandpas.  While we were in Mississippi he had a great time playing with his Grandpa Daniel.

We really enjoyed our trip and can’t wait to go back!
