15 month stats

Goodness, how time flies!  Nathan had his 15 month well-baby check-up last night.  His doctor says that he is doing wonderful and is meeting/exceeding all of his milestones.

Weight:  27.2 lbs (82nd percentile)

Height: 33 inches (93rd percentile)

Head: 16.75 inches (65th percentile)

Nathan is really starting to vocalize a lot these days.  He is getting very good at recognizing animals and making the appropriate animal sounds.  He absolutely LOVES trucks, tractors and any type of construction equipment.  He’ll make noises whenever he sees a truck and says “dig” when we see a tractor.  It is very cute because he gets so excited!

Nathan has also started throwing little temper tantrums when we take something away from him that he shouldn’t have or don’t let him do something he thinks he should do.  It’s kind of funny to watch – he gets so upset!  He is very active and constantly into everything.  He’s starting to climb and is slowly learning the concept of sitting on his bottom.  Sometimes he learns the hard way – last week he climbed up onto the ottoman, stood up and then promptly fell off onto one of his trucks.  He was ok, it just scared him.  You would have thought the fall would have deterred him from climbing and standing…nope.  We constantly have to watch him because he has no fear.  He’s a lot of fun, though.  There’s never a dull moment with him!

Some of Nathan’s favorite foods are Lo Mein, spaghetti, meatballs, bananas, kiwi, mandarin oranges, avocados, broccoli, peas, carrots, squash, hamburgers, french fries, macaroni and cheese.  If you can’t tell by the above stats, the kid loves to eat.

Nathan also loves to play.  He’s recently discovered how much fun the playground can be.  We have one by our house that we’ve visited a few times and this past weekend we visited one with Grandpa and Grandma Burkhardt.  Of course, we took along the camera and snapped a few pictures.

Check back later this week for more fun pictures of the boys at the playground!

Easter Fun!

We traveled to Algona, Iowa, to visit Grandpa and Grandma Burkhardt for Easter.  The boys had a wondeful time and enjoyed playing with Grandpa and Grandma.

We decided to have our egg hunt on Saturday afternoon, since it was such a beautiful day.  Tyler and Nathan had a lot of fun finding eggs in Grandpa and Grandma’s back yard.  Nathan didn’t quite know what to do at first, but he eventually got the hang of it.

Of course, just like everything else, the egg had to go in Nathan’s mouth.

Nathan couldn’t wait until we were back into the house to break into his egg.  He wanted that jelly bean immediately!

I bought the boys matching outfits for Easter Sunday.  They all looked adorable, but unfortunately I wasn’t able to get a very good picture.  Do you know how hard it is to get 3 young boys to sit still long enough to snap a picture?  It’s not easy!

We hope everyone had a wonderful and blessed Easter!

Big Boy water!

Now here’s a boy who’s awfully darn proud of himself.

We went for Chinese this evening at Red Wok and the waiter had lots of surprises for Nathan.

First he brought Nathan his own cup of water with a straw, which Nathan is REALLY into these days. Nathan’s getting really good at drinking from a straw but is still having problems when it comes to the mouth from straw dismount.  Tonight, however, things went well and there was very little (if any) dribbling of water onto his shirt.

Sir found dinner VERY delicious.  He had a fried shrimp, tried some of mom’s egg drop soup and dad’s hot and sour soup, some egg roll, some crab rangoon, chicken lo mein, honey chicken, and steamed rice.

Then, after all that, not only did Nathan get his very own fortune cookie, but the waiter also brought him a green apple Dum Dum, which he nearly ate all of.  Mom and dad took it from him before the stick got too soggy and the sucker broke off.

Everyone had a great time, and we found a new favorite Chinese restaurant for many reasons!
