The Baby Beard

So, I spent my week off from work down in the basement drywalling, trimming, and priming.  Looks like I’m ready to texture the ceiling and paint the walls any time I want to.

During the week, I really never left the house other than to go to Home Depot or Lowe’s, so I really only showered to wash off the gypsum dust.  As a result, I went 11 days without shaving.  As I got up to shower for work this morning, I reached for the razor but then stopped short. I had an idea…

I’m not shaving until Nate gets here.

So, that probably means another 17 or so days without shaving.  I should have a nice Grizzly Adams beard going by the time he gets here.   I’ll pack my razor in my hospital bag and shave after we get our first picture taken together.  That way, in a few years when Nathan sees the first picture I can tell him the story about how I decided not to shave until he decided to get here.

Of course, it’ll take me about as long as it took you to read this post to tell that story, but whatever.  I’m doing it.

It’s about time, right?

Well, as should be pretty obvious by now, I’ve finally gotten around to designing Mr. Nate’s web site.  Today was the last day at work before our week-long Christmas break (one of the perks of working at an employee-owned agency), and things were a little slow.  It took me about 2 hours to do this redesign from start to finish.

Of course, the site is designed using all the exact colors of his room and probably features text that is too small for grandparents to read.  Let me just bask in the glow of how good I think the design looks before you make me change the font to something bigger. :)

Anyway…

So, I’ve got these extra days off, and I plan to get to all the to-dos that Robin outlined in the previous post plus hopefully get the basement close to finished.  I certainly doubt that I’ll have flooring down by January 1, but I sure plan on having all the walls up with a coat of paint on them.

As I write this, grandma and grandpa Fuksa and great-grandma Laporte are about 1.5 hours away from the house.  We’re having our family Christmas get-together this weekend in KC since Robin’s been banned from travel until Nate’s born.

Here’s hoping all 5 of the rest of you who read this site have a Merry Christmas.
